This was a really fun project building a WordPress microsite for the release of some exclusive merchandise for Paul McCartney’s album Flaming Pie.
Flaming Pie was McCartney’s tenth solo studio album, recorded in the mid-90s, peaking at number two in both the UK and the US and was certified gold.
The website was aimed at fans in order to publicise the fact that a wide selection of collector’s editions of the album were being released. The packages included CDs, bonus material, demos, outtakes, DVDs and vinyls of the album.
As with many of my web development projects, I used Advanced Custom Fields in order to make the site modular and very easy to update by the end user. The site also gave each product its own page to fully describe the contents of each item.
I also built a few small items of animation into the site to give it some life as well as image galleries and GIFs of Paul McCartney throughout the making of the album.
Using WordPress as the CMS for this project gives the admin complete control of most aspects of the site, so that updating content is simple.
The web design incorporated some nice flourishes and animations that brought the site to life.
I also added the ability by the end user to change the background colour of some of the sections, such as the album section. This means that the background of the section can always be kept in harmony with the album cover.
The website is also fully responsive so that it works well on all devices and browsers, from mobile to desktop, Chrome to Firefox.
This site was built whilst working as a freelance WordPress web developer for the The Creative Corporation.
